HomeFront work day

Forty people with the Wilton Kiwanis Club and Bankwell Financial Group joined together Saturday, May 7, for an all-day HomeFront project in East Norwalk. This year marked the 24th time Wilton Kiwanis participated in HomeFront and the second year in a row that Bankwell was a partner.  HomeFront was originally initiated by AmeriCares and is now a separate nonprofit organization with teams of volunteers throughout three states fixing up homes for people who cannot afford or cannot do so on their own. The Kiwanis/Bankwell team was led by co-captains architect Bob Parisot and veterinarian Kevin Craw, far left. The Wilton Rotary also furnished several volunteers and many other helpers stepped forward. Despite periods of light drizzle the team worked at painting, yard cleaning, patching, and carpentry. The two major projects were replacing six windows and removing a large deteriorated deck that was unsafe. — Jerry Holdridge photo
