Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to the Wilton Historical Society at 224 Danbury Road on Saturday, Dec. 23, from 11 to 12:30 to learn what a mendiant is.

They will discover a mendiant is a traditional French confection composed of a chocolate disk studded with nuts and dried fruits, usually made during the holidays, and often given as a gift. Then they will make and sample, some of which will be nut-free.

The cost for society members is $10 per child, maximum $25 per family; non-members pay $15 per child, maximum $35 per family.
