Historical society closes train show, marks MLK Day

The Wilton Historical Society is generally closed on Mondays, but will open this Monday, Jan. 20, to celebrate Martin Luther King Day and bid farewell to the Great Trains exhibition.

From 10 to 4, the historical society will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the historic March on Washington by participating in the Scholastic Student Art Contest. The theme is “what are you doing for others?”.

The contest calls for students in grades K-12 to creatively and artistically interpret what engaging in service means to them. The historical society will provide all art supplies.

All participants will be entered in the official contest with a chance to win a Samsung tablet and artwork displayed at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bookstore.

While the historical society is open, visitors can get a last look at the train exhibition, which ends Monday.

The historical society is at 224 Danbury Road. Information: 203-762-7257 or wiltonhistorical.org.
