Walter James Harlow, of Danbury, and Mary Hunt, of Seminole, Fla., formerly of Wilton, announced the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Jane Harlow, to Philip John Olkoski, son of Philip F. Olkoski and the late Margaret Olkoski, of Wilton.

The future bride graduated from Wilton High School and from Western Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is an HR project support analyst for Praxair Inc. in Danbury.

The future bridegroom graduated from Wilton High School and from Gibbs College with an associate’s degree in applied science. He is an assistant store manager at Keough’s Paint & Hardware in Ridgefield.

The couple plan a September wedding in Arlington, Vt.

When they walk down the aisle the couple will embark on a new chapter in a relationship that had its beginnings in Wilton High School.

“We started dating my freshman year,” Ms. Harlow told The Bulletin. “We met through mutual friends. We were on the Wilton ski team together.”

Mr. Olkoski graduated in 2000. The pair dated all four years Ms. Harlow was in high school until she graduated in 2002. Shortly thereafter they broke up for eight years.

“I moved out of Wilton. We were in different places in our lives,” she said, and so they decided to go their separate ways.

“We reconnected as friends years later,” Ms. Harlow said, when a family member found a newspaper clipping in 2011 from his senior prom. That provided the spark to get back together. As she drove to work in Stamford and he in Ridgefield, “we commuted past each other and we would wave to each other,” she said. “That helped us reconnect.”

The two have been friends “on and off a long time,” Ms. Harlow said. “We got back together  June 2011. In high school our anniversary was 12/6; we got together 6/12.”

The couple, who now live in Wilton, got engaged in December.
