Welsh rabbit — a dish of savory cheese sauce over toast — dates from the early 1700s and has long been enjoyed as hearty tavern supper. Children ages 6 to 12 may learn how to make the dish, as well as molasses bread, at a Colonial Cookery and Customs for Kids Workshop Saturday, Jan. 26, 1 to 2:30, at the Wilton Historical Society, 224 Danbury Road.

While the food is prepared, the children will hear about Colonial manners, morals and way of life. All participants will sample their own cooking and take home recipe cards, as well as any leftovers.

The cost is $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Register: info@wiltonhistorical.org or call 203-762-7257.
