Focus ’15 invites photo entries

The Wilton Arts Council’s popular annual photography show, Focus ‘15, will return to Wilton Library March 6 through 28. A reception, open to the community, will take place Friday, March 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the library.

Photographers of all ages are encouraged to participate. Photographs will be judged in three categories: adult (professional and amateur combined), high school students and youth photographers. The youth division (through eighth grade) was created in 2006 in memory of Lenwood W. Freas, a former vice president and active member of the Wilton Arts Council, to foster young peoples’ interest in photography.

Photos may be dropped off at the library on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 11 to 4:30 and on Sunday, March 1, from 1:30 to 4:30. Photos may be created digitally or through the use of traditional film, and they may be altered digitally or through dark room procedures.

There are no limits as to maximum size but the frame must be at least 8 inches by 10 inches wired, (no loops or hooks are acceptable).

Photographers may submit up to two photos. The entry fee, per photo, is $5 for youths, $10 for high school students and Wilton Arts Council members, and $20 for non-members. Photographers may join the council at the time of drop-off. Membership is $35 per family, $25 per individual, or $10 for seniors and students.

Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded for Best of Show (which is open to all); first through fifth places in the adult division; and first, second and third place in the high school and youth divisions. Ribbons will also be presented for honorable mention in each of the divisions.

Photos will be for sale unless otherwise designated, and the library will receive a 20% commission on each sale.

Judges for the photos are Sandy Gennrich, professional photographer and winner of Focus ’14 Best of Show award, professional photographer Daryl Hawk, and Sooo-z Mastropietro, curator and artist of Mastropiece.

Sponsors are Alice Snyder Real Estate in Wilton, Beardsley Framing in Wilton, Milford Photo in Milford, Photographic Solutions LLC in Norwalk, and Rockwell Art & Framing in Wilton, Westport, Fairfield, New Canaan, Ridgefield and Stamford.
