The Friends of CPFA-Artsplace, Inc. are sponsoring a weekend featuring Wilton artist David Dunlop at Artsplace, 1220 Waterbury Road, Cheshire, Conn., Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28. (Snow dates March 5 and 6). The event is part of the 200th birthday celebration of Hudson River artist and Cheshire native John Frederick Kensett.

Dunlop’s work has been shown internationally. He is also an educator at the Silvermine Guild Art Center and a lecturer at venues around the country.

On Saturday, he will present a lecture, Exploring the Mind and Art of John Frederick Kensett, in the morning and a painting demonstration in the style of Kensett in the afternoon. The event is free and open to the public with a prior telephone reservation.

On Sunday he will lead a workshop from 9:30 to 5 in landscape painting in the style of Kensett. Sunday workshop tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for high school students. Preregistration is required.
