Daryl Hawk addresses Kiwanis Club

International documentary photographer, Daryl Hawk, will present a slide show and lecture entitled “Ladakh: Land of High Passes,” at the Kiwanis Club weekly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at WEPCO on New Canaan Road. The presentation will begin after the club’s weekly luncheon which starts at noon.

Mr. Hawk embarked on a solitary trek across the Kingdom of Ladakh in northern India, a remote, rugged land that separates the peaks of the western Himalayan range from the vast Tibetan plateau. He traveled from the Pakistan border in the west to the Tibet boarder in the east.

Mr. Hawk was shooting a documentary for TV and magazines and will share his adventures with Kiwanians and their guests showing photographs of beautiful landscapes, ancient Buddhist monasteries and fortresses which are rarely ever seen. He will also tell of his quest to glimpse the rare and beautiful snow leopard which lives in that area of the world.

For the past 25 years, Mr. Hawk has taken his cameras to some of the world’s most remote and isolated areas. He is a member of the Explorers Club and a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a photographer, writer, lecturer and explorer whose articles and photographs have appeared in numerous magazines and publications.
