Concert aims to help the hungry
Last year Andy Schlesinger of Wilton organized a concert to benefit the Connecticut Food Bank and Wilton Interfaith Food Pantry. The concert raised $26,000.
This year he’s planning ahead, and has a goal of raising $40,000 with the second annual Wilton Rocks for Food concert set for Dec. 3 at Trackside Teen Center. The concert features Wilton residents. Last year’s event featured 20 musicians and 200 audience members.
Right now, Schlesinger is seeking corporate sponsors, large individual supporters and donations to the silent auction. Wiltonians who play or sing and are 21 or older, are invited to join in on stage.
All expenses for the concert are privately funded, meaning 100% of contributions goes to charity and are tax deductible.
