Community celebration embraces rock 'n' roll

The Wilton Family YMCA will present its 28th Annual Wilton Community Celebration “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll” on Saturday, Nov. 1, 6:30 p.m., at Rolling Hills Country Club. The festive event is sponsored by Fairfield County Bank.

During the cocktail hour, attendees may bid on silent auction items while sipping on the Love on the Rocks signature drink and capture a photo with an Elvis impersonator.

Pimpinella — a popular rock/disco/funk band — will perform after a sumptuous rock ’n’ roll-inspired dinner.  Emcee Megan Smith-Harris of Wilton magazine will oversee the live auction which includes VIP tickets to Good Morning America, autographed hockey stick by Martin St. Louis of the New York Rangers, autographed football by Joe Namath, staycation in New Canaan complete with overnight stay, dinner and private tour of the Glass House and rinkside tickets to a Rangers hockey game.

The Y will bestow Bruce Beebe and A Better Chance of Wilton with the 28th Annual Distinguished Citizen Award. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of life in Wilton.

Funds raised during the event support the Y’s mission to be open and accessible to all. The Y awards $470,000 annually for financial assistance and community outreach programs so children can attend summer day camp, senior citizens can participate in water exercise, adults can rehabilitate from an accident or illness, and families can spend quality swimming together at the Y.
