Mark Bruner and the Awaken Band will perform their blend of jazz and contemporary Christian music Tuesday, Sept. 13, 7 p.m., at Trackside Teen Center, 15 Station Road. The free performance is sponsored by Crossroads Fellowship.

The band has performed street concerts in Trnava, Slovakia since 1993 and is currently on a tour of U.S. cities. Its musical mix blends European styles, languages and culture.

Bruner has played in jazz/rock/fusion and R&R bands since age 14 and has produced six albums. He has played at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and at President Jimmy Carter’s inaugural ball. He has played trumpet with Lionel Hampton, Sarah Vaughan, Jabbo Smith, the Lettermen, and has appeared on NPR with Garrison Keillor.

Vocalist Lisie Reyes, from the Czech Republic, is known for her gospel, ballads and Latin styles. In addition to Bruner, she is accompanied by bassist Honza Beran, drummer Libor Orel, and Jakub Zelizko, playing sax, flute, and guitar.
