Chorus will sing of hope, journey and glory

Music on the Hill invites singers to join in the Festival Chorus premiere of Threads of Light: A Tapestry of African-American Spirituals by artistic director Ellen Dickinson. Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m., beginning Aug. 30 at the WEPCO complex at 48 New Canaan Road. There will be a performance Oct. 1 at Norwalk Concert Hall.

The piece is a setting of 40 spirituals in three parts: Hope, Journey, Glory. It will feature combined choirs, soloists, handbells, trumpet, and upright bass, with readings of poetry by African-American poets connecting the musical parts.
