Celebrating soil

In celebration of the International Year of the Soil 2015, the Norwalk River Watershed Association and the Wilton Garden Club Conservation Committee will show the film Symphony of the Soil on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2 p.m., at the G & B Cultural Center, 49 New Street. Admission is free.

The film is an artistic exploration of the substance of soil and examines how it has been used and misused for human advancement.

“Maintaining healthy soil and improving disturbed or compacted soils so that they efficiently absorb stormwater is an important part of protection and restoration of the Norwalk River Watershed and Long Island Sound,” a press release from the organizations said.

“Soil is the most important component of any landscape. Healthy soils make for healthy plants.”
