Carve a pumpkin in historic setting
First you cut open the top. Then you reach in and pull out all the “guts.” Then you get down to the serious business of decorating a scary, smiling, or stylish Halloween pumpkin.
For those who enjoy doing all that in a group setting, Wilton Historical Society and the Kiwanis Club are offering a Bring Your own Pumpkin event on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 11 to 12:30, at the society at 224 Danbury Road. It will be repeated on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 3:30 to 4:30.
Kiwanis volunteers and museum educator Lola Chen will be in the 1860 Abbott Barn helping children and their adults. Pumpkins are available for purchase on-site from the Kiwanis Club or participants may bring their own pumpkin. The Wilton Historical Society will supply carving tools, craft materials, cider and cookies.
Suggested for ages 8 and up, this is not a drop-off program. The cost is $5 for members, $10 for non-members. Register by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 203-762-7257.
