Bracelets for children
Kate Liu, a first grader at Miller-Driscoll School, makes bracelets to raise money for UNICEF. Each year, her mother Ann said, Kate would receive a UNICEF collection box at school right before Halloween, but she was always too shy to ask for a donation. Instead, she decided to make Rainbow loom bracelets to sell at the end of the family’s driveway. Ms. Liu gave Kate’s efforts a boost when she posted her daughter’s plans on the social network Wechat and orders rolled in. Kate made over 20 bracelets and raised $78, which she has donated to UNICEF. Along with her mother, Kate lives with her father Will and younger brother Lucas.
