Birding walk at Sackett Preserve
The Wilton Land Trust continues its series of bird walk on Saturday, March 3, at 8 a.m., at the Sackett Preserve. The preserve entrance is on Ridgefield Road just before DeForest Road.
Participants are advised to wear good hiking shoes, and bring binoculars and a camera. Beginners are welcome. The preserve has a variety of habitats, and it connects to the land trust's Marble-Van Haelewyn Preserve and Richards Preserve, for a total of 77 acres of pristine nature.
This walk is part of the land trust's Big Year in birding. The goal is to see as many bird species as possible in Wilton in 2018. So far, 64 species have been seen. Progress is noted on Facebook, Wilton Land Trust Bird Year. With spring migration gearing up, there will be many new species to be seen.
