American Legion national commander visits
James B. Whipple American Legion Post 86 will welcome National Commander Brett Reistad on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 12:15 to 2. This is the first time a Legion national commander has visited the 98-year-old post at 112 Old Ridgefield Road.
The afternoon will include a meet-and-greet with Reistad and an informal lunch. All veterans, members or not, their families and the general public are welcome to attend.
An Army veteran during the Vietnam era, Reistad is the newly elected and 100th commander of the nation’s largest veterans organization. The theme for his year-long service as commander is “Celebrating our Legacy”, as the American Legion celebrates its centennial as a chartered veterans organization, serving veterans and their families, children and youth, a strong national defense and Americanism.
