Telephone reassurance program for elderly, homebound and disabled

The Wilton Police Department is accepting new subscribers to the Are You OK? (RUOK) system.

RUOK is a telephone reassurance program available to all Wilton residents over the age of 60, as well as those who are homebound or medically disabled on a permanent or long-term basis, regardless of age.

Subscribers will each receive a call at the same time each day asking, “Are you Ok today?” and simple response tells the automated system that there is no need for follow-up contact.

If a subscriber’s telephone line is busy or he or she does not answer, the system will call back two more times. If there is still no answer or the line remains busy, the information on a subscriber’s data sheet will appear on the screen at the Wilton Police Department’s communications center and emergency action will be taken.

To sign up for RUOK, contact Detective Scott Sear at 203-834-6260 or
