Staying at home goes out to lunch

Many Stay at Home members enjoyed a cooking demonstration and luncheon at Cucina Casalinga on Sept. 23. The name means Home Style Cooking in Italian and owner Sally Maraventano prepared her traditional family recipes which included Grandpa Tony’s bread and her Mama’s biscotti. The lunch menu included Crostini alle Olive, Minestrone con Farro, Pane origanato, and Biscotti della Mamma. Members toured Maraventano’s herb garden, learned about her outdoor Italian brick pizza oven, and then lunched on the patio. Tables were decorated with flowers, Italian pottery and imported Italian tablecloths. Guests left feeling as if they had just visited Italy.   In back from left are Verna Barrett, Kay Chann, Joan Starr, Anne Richards, and Gail Nielsen. In front, from left, are Mary Lou Pruden, Carol Steiner, Sally Maraventano, Janice Whitney, Janet Johnson, Barbara Sage, Winkie Chesley, and Judy White.
