Seniors hear of African Odysseys

Travel consultant Gayle Howard will be the guest speaker at the senior luncheon on Thursday, March 20, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 36 New Canaan Road.

Lunch will be served at noon, after which Ms. Howard will give an illustrated talk on “Nourish Your Soul: An African Odyssey.”

Ms. Howard has been in the travel business 27 years ago. As an early childhood educator she lived and taught in Tokyo and traveled extensively in Japan. Her interest in the Orient and Southeast Asia has taken her to China, Tibet, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.

With a passion for Africa, she has journeyed to Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia. She has trekked after gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda, climbed the sand dunes in Namibia, and made numerous trips to Botswana and South Africa where she bungee jumped from the world’s highest site.
