Introduction to bridge lessons It\u2019s time to get started! Another Introduction to Bridge class is forming, so reserve your place now. The class will take place on Fridays beginning Oct. 7, from noon to 1:30 with instructor Michael Hess. Bridge combines mental exercise of the reasoning faculties, short- and long-term memory centers, planning and collation skills, social interaction techniques, and a host of other mental calisthenics useful in everyday life. You will experience this entertaining and mentally demanding team game from its beginning steps to more advanced concepts by playing the game. This class is for the player with little or no bridge experience. The fee is $95 for the 10-week series payable at the first class. Call the senior center, 203-834-6240, to reserve a place. Early registration is encouraged as maximum capacity is anticipated. Garden club resumes The monthly Wilton Garden Club lunches and garden activities resume on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at noon. The garden club members prepare a lunch and garden activity for the participants. Club members bring their green thumbs to each gathering on the first Tuesday of the month. Play reading A new season of play reading begins Monday, Oct. 3, from 12:30 to 3. Participants are invited to take a role or just read along and join in the discussion of the play afterward. We will start off with two plays, a drama and a comedy. The drama is Trifles by Susan Glaspell, a murder mystery that also examines how women are often controlled by the men around them. The comedy is The Ugly Duckling by A. A. Milne, about an unattractive princess, and her parents\u2019 attempts to marry her off to a dull-witted prince. Copies of each play are available in advance at the senior center. Computer classes Two computer classes are set for next week, each taking place from 10 to noon. WORD 2010\/2013 Graphics will focus on borders for paragraphing and full page, inserting pictures and clipart, changing fonts, using the color wheel, and working with full pages and half sheets. WordArt and shapes also will be incorporated in a book cover or art project of choice. Taught by Catherine Myers on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 4 and 5. Fee: $20. Word Basics for Beginners is for people who are new to word processing and want to learn the basics and get started. Some prior use of the mouse and knowledge of the keyboard is required.
