Senior Center News: June 19

“Students for Seniors” is a volunteer program initiated by Wilton High School junior Neal Sarup.  As founder of this program, he has mobilized fellow students to assist in his vision of assisting Wilton’s senior citizens in their quest for technological understanding.

After interviewing senior citizens in town and meeting with Lizabeth Doty, senior activities coordinator, Neal and his cohorts developed a plan to offer multiple workshops at the senior center.  One component of the series is the individual instruction which is available by appointment.

Individual instruction on Facebook, iPhone, smartphones, iPads, eReaders, and more is available by calling Neal at 203-762-7751. He will schedule a member of the club to meet with you at the senior center and instruct you on your very own device. Instruction does not get any more individualized than this! Now’s the time to schedule an appointment. This is a service of the Students for Seniors Club of Wilton High School.  There is no charge for this instruction.

Free lunch and bingo

Who says there’s no free lunch? There’s bingo, too!

Wilton Meadows Health Care and Rehabilitation Center will host a free luncheon and bingo on Thursday, June 26, at 11:30. This event is open to senior citizens free of charge. Call the senior center at 203-834-6240 to reserve a place.

Comstock Knitters and Crafters

The group will meet Monday, June 30, from 1 to 2:30. (Note date change.)

Basic instruction will be provided for projects, and the company will be great. The coffee pot’s always on. If you have a work in progress, bring it. If it’s all new to you, come give knitting a try!  We’ll supply the practice materials. Not a knitter? Bring your own handiwork and enjoy the company. Lizabeth Doty, Instructor.
