Services available to seniors

For Wilton’s seniors and their families and friends, the Wilton Senior Services booklet, published by the Wilton Department of Social Services, is invaluable. This booklet was printed through the generosity of the Wilton Rotary Club, and it is bursting with names and numbers helpful to Wilton seniors. During the coming weeks, this column will highlight selected services included in the booklet.   • Visiting nurses, social workers, physical, occupational and speech therapists, home health aides, companions and homemakers.
  • Home care programs individually and specifically designed to meet the needs of terminally ill patients and their families, with 24-hour availability of nursing care and psychological support.
  • Volunteers available for emotional support and companionship for patients and their families.
  • Numerous support groups and educational workshops.
  • Respite care for families and caregivers.
  • Special programs for the frail elderly and acutely ill.

Corridors is the bi-monthly newsletter for the Wilton Senior Center. It is mailed to Wilton residents who are registered voters age 60 and above.  For the months of July and August, the Corridors is available at the senior center and on the town website:  Just click on the newsletter icon on the right panel of the homepage.

Need technology help?

Need help with your computer? Confused with your new iPad? Don’t know how to use your phone? We’re here to help. Students for Seniors, in conjunction with the Wilton Senior Center, presents a program that will help you learn all about your electronic devices. This one-on-one assistance will focus in on your questions so that you learn as much as you can about your device. To schedule an appointment, contact Neal Sarup, president of Students for Seniors, at 203-762-7751.  This service is free and open to adults in the community. Sessions take place at the Wilton Senior Center.
