Senior Center News
Calling all actors and actresses
A new group is forming at the senior center — The Comstock Players. They will perform a program via Readers’ Theatre for other seniors at the center.
Readers’ Theatre is show business without the stress. There is no memorization of lines as participants perform for an audience by reading directly from the script. Characters are developed and the focus is on the use of voice, oral expression, facial expression and gestures. Rehearsals and the performance will be during the day and dates will be forthcoming after the group is formed.
Anyone interested in joining the Comstock Players should contact Debbie Wolyniec at 203-834-6238 or Deborah.Wolyniec@wiltonct.org by Sept. 24. The script will be chosen based upon the number of people who express interest in performing.
Andrea Ragusa will be the director. She has a B.S. in speech and theater arts from SUNY Oswego and an M.A. in educational theater from NYU. Come join the group and have some fun!
Lifetime Learners open house
You are invited to join the Norwalk Community College Lifetime Learners for its Fall 2018 Lunch and Learn Open House on Sept. 14 at 12:15, at the Norwalk Community College East Campus Forum. The topic is The Norwalk Islands — 25 public and private islands off the Norwalk and Westport coastline. Attendees may learn about the islands from the time of Native Americans and early settlers through the fishing and oyster industries that continue today, with stories of the Prohibition era in between.
The program will be led by Rick Delfosse, business manager at Norwalk’s Cove Marina and a Coast Guard captain.
