Lifetime Learning Institute

The Lifetime Learning Institute at Norwalk Community College opens opportunities to adult learners who are 50 years and older.

“We are pleased to say we have been doing this for 25 years and it’s a great bargain, most courses are much cheaper than other adult learning programs and some are even free! Importantly, we also have the chance to mingle with younger students at the college,” says Jackie Labatt-Simon, chairperson of the Marketing Committee at LLI. The institute has about 900 members and courses in the winter semester include Current Events, Chagall and Ali, Fairy Tales and 60’s Greatest Hits. Other terms include Genealogy to Studio Art, and Yiddish Conversation for Beginners.

Registration for the winter session continues until courses begin on Jan. 8, but those interested are urged to register early since classes are filled on a first-come first served-basis. Registration takes place at the college at 188 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, or by mail. This is the first-time registration may be done by credit card online at lifetimelearners.org. A course list and descriptions are also available on the website or by calling 203-857-3330.

The winter session is an abridged session with classes lasting from one to four sessions with each class spanning an hour and a half. Classes on Monday, Tuesday and Friday are free. Classes on Wednesday and Thursday cost $30. Attending any course requires a $50 annual membership. There are also enrichment events for members every Friday at noon.
