Senior Center News
Corridors is the bi-monthly newsletter for the Senior Center. It is mailed to Wilton residents who are registered voters age 60 and above. For the months of July and August, Corridors is available at the senior center and on the town website at wiltonct.org. Just click on the newsletter icon on the right panel of the homepage.
Laurel Ridge will host a free luau lunch on Friday, July 12, at noon at the senior center. Come and join in the fun. Call the center for reservations: 203-834-6240.
Need help with your computer? We’re here to help! Juniors for Seniors, in conjunction with the Wilton Senior Center, presents a new program that will help you learn all about your electronic devices. This one-on-one assistance will focus in on your questions so you learn as much as you can about your device. Call Lizabeth Doty at 203-834-6240 or Neal Sarup, president of Juniors for Seniors, at 203-762-7751 to schedule an appointment. This service is free and open to adults in the community. Sessions take place at the senior center.
Creative card making
Andrea Ragusa will teach stamping to create assorted cards for all occasions on July 17 and Aug. 21. The cost is $10 per class and includes materials supplied by the instructor. Reservations required: 203-834-6240. Class size limited to six participants.
Lunch and bingo
Each Thursday, the senior center hosts a noon lunch prepared by Chef Karen White. After lunch, 10 games of bingo are held in the Game Room. Lunch is $3. Call for reservations: 203-834-6240.
Parks and Rec has two trips planned for July:
• Foxwoods Casino, Monday, July 8, depart at 8 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. Resident fee is $25; non-resident fee is $35.
• Newport on Your Own, Monday, July 29, depart at 8:30 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. Resident free is $30; non-resident fee is $40 (transportation only).

Mondays (9:20 a.m.), Thursdays (9 a.m.); $3 drop-in fee per class
The Wilton Family Y brings the Enhance Fitness program to the Senior Center on Mondays at 9:20 and Thursdays at 9. There is a $3 drop-in fee for the hour-long class that includes 30 minutes of endurance-type activity and specific strengthening exercises. The class is taught by Laura Mars and Leslie Hinshaw, instructors at the Wilton Y.
Yoga classes meet Tuesdays, 11 to noon, and Thursdays, 10 to 11. There is a $3 drop-in fee per class.
Tai chi, a series of short sets of motions appropriate for any age, is offered Wednesdays, 9:45 to 10:45 for a $3 drop-in fee per class.
Beatriz Araujo teaches line dancing as a form of exercise and social interaction. Beginners as well as experienced dancers are welcome. Classes meet in the air-conditioned studio on Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30. There is a $3 drop-in fee per class.
Viola Galetta conducts this jewelry-making workshop on July 12 and Aug. 2, from 10 to 11:30. Select materials to match your own style. The drop-in fee is $5 per class.
Knitters and crafters
The Comstock Knitters and crafters offer basic instruction for projects. Not a knitter? Bring your own handiwork and enjoy the camaraderie. The group meets July 9 and 22, and Aug. 13 and 26, from 1 to 2:30.
Sketching and painting
Viola Galetta will instruct beginners in the basics of drawing still life, landscape, and portrait on July 19 and Aug. 16, from 10:30 to non. The fee is $10 per class.
