On more than 276 acres of land in the northwestern Connecticut town of Cornwall, the turrets of a stone chateau peek out from the surrounding treetops. The property, known as Cornwall Castle, makes the fables of children’s fairytales look like a reality with its surrounding brooks, ponds and waterfalls. Now the real-life castle is for sale for $6.5 million.
According to a press release by Klemm Real Estate, the home was “the vision" of New York socialite, Charlotte Bronson Hunnewell Martin. Hunnewell Martin published several volumes of French poetry she translated into English, according to the New York Historical Society, as well as four volumes of letters penned by her grandmother.
