Home sales drop statewide in January

The drop in single-family home sales in Wilton in January was part of a statewide trend. The eight closings here were down 47% compared to 15 in January 2014. Across the state, single-family home sales were down 6.3%, marking the first time sales have decreased year over year since August 2014, according to a report by The Warren Group, publisher of The Commercial Record.
A total of 1,357 single-family homes sold in Connecticut during January 2015 compared with 1,448 sold in January 2014. This marked the lowest number of sales in the month of January since January 2012 when there were 1,332 sales.
The median price of a single-family home statewide was $230,000, the same price as a year ago, ending 10 months of consecutive decreases in median prices.
In Wilton, the median price for January 2015 sales was $905,000, up 38.8% from January 2014, when the median sale price was $652,000.
