https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qAFb0borkh8&feature=youtu.be U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) has taken to the floor in the U.S. Senate demanding action on measures that would prevent individuals on the FBI's Terrorist Watch List from purchasing guns and would expand background checks. He promised to keep talking until his colleagues can address "this epidemic in a meaningful bipartisan way." Murphy's remarks come just days after the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, which took place in Orlando, Fla., Sunday. Vigils remembering the victims have been taking place across the country, with an event planned for tomorrow in Norwalk. Murphy is receiving support in his efforts from fellow Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Jim Himes (D-4th) among others. Himes tweeted a selfie with Rep. Joe Courtney (D-2nd) earlier today saying they were on their way to the Senate to support Murphy "in his gun safety filibuster." \u201cOur heart breaks collectively in this country for the citizens of Orlando and as I\u2019ll speak in a \u00a0moment, in particular in Connecticut," Murphy said. "Our heart breaks for the people of Orlando because we know in a very real way the pain that exists there today, but we also know how that pain is really never ending, how the ripples of that pain are unceasing and unrelenting and they span generations. They span neighborhoods. They span years. Newtown is still putting itself back together, probably will be for a long time, and Orlando the same."
