Wilton Republicans announce convention delegates
The Wilton Republican Town Committee (RTC) has selected delegates to participate in the party’s upcoming state and district nominating conventions. The delegates, who were selected at the RTC’s March 22 meeting, will cast votes for Republican candidates to appear on the November ballot. The nominating conventions and participating delegates include:
- 143rd Assembly District Convention, May 16. This seat is held by Rep. Gail Lavielle (R). Delegates: Eric Cameron, Hella McSweeney, Miriam Sayegh and Peter Wrampe.
- 125th Assembly District Convention, May 16. This seat is held by Rep. Tom O’Dea (R). Delegates: Michelle Battaglia, Jerry Holdridge, and Michael Kaelin.
- 26th Senate District Convention, May 11. This seat is held by Sen. Toni Boucher (R). Delegates: Eric Cameron, Jerry Holdridge, Michael Kaelin, Hella McSweeney, Miriam Sayegh, Warren Serenbetz, and Peter Wrampe.
- The state convention for the nomination of candidates to run for U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate is May 9. These seats are held by Jim Himes (D) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D). Delegates: Al Alper, Joshua Cole, Marianne Gustafson, Michael Kaelin, Phillip Murphy, Edward Papp, Andrea Preston and Tracy Serpa.
“Our delegates will have a role in choosing Republican candidates to represent Wilton in Hartford and in Washington,” said Wilton RTC Chairman Al Alper. “At the state level, we will be returning Reps. Lavielle and O’Dea, along with Sen. Boucher, who have been leaders in promoting pro-business, responsible solutions to try and reverse our state’s downward economic spiral.
“This year the Republican Party has a tremendous opportunity to take control back of our state house and senate, after too many years of wasteful spending and anti-business policies of the Democrat party that has driven jobs from our state,” Alper added.
“And at the federal level, Connecticut has been ill-served by an all-Democrat Congressional delegation. Our House members, along with Senators Blumenthal and Murphy, have been willing participants in President Obama’s failed economic agenda that have hurt the very people they promised to help. I am confident that Connecticut Republicans will nominate smart, experienced candidates to represent us in Washington,” Alper added.
