State Rep. Tom O’Dea, a Republican who represents southwestern Wilton  and New Canaan in the 125th legislative district, announced Thursday evening he will run for reelection in November.

O’Dea said he made his decision after discussing it with his family and his partners at the law firm Diserio Martin O`Connor & Castiglioni LLP (Diserio Martin).

In a letter to constituents he said serving as state representative, “has been an honor that I have been blessed with for almost four years and one I hope to continue with for another two years.

“As far as being your voice in Hartford over the last two terms, I have developed a reputation as a fiscally conservative problem solver who works well with both sides of the isle. As a member of the minority party, having that kind of reputation is imperative. In addition, I am the ranking house member of the Transportation Committee and have been an effective advocate for our collective transportation concerns in New Canaan and Wilton.

“I truly enjoy representing the 125th District and would appreciate the opportunity to do so for another term. As always, the best ideas come from our constituents, not Hartford, so please reach out to me with any suggestions to improve our respective towns and Connecticut.

“I again want to thank my family and colleagues at Diserio Martin, who are some of the finest attorneys with whom I have been associated.”
