Voters will have an opportunity to meet and hear the opinions of candidates for contested seats in this year’s town election at a forum on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 18-19, in the Brubeck Room at Wilton Library.

Candidates for the Planning and Zoning Commission will answer questions on Oct. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Board of Selectmen candidates will take the stage Oct. 19 from 7 to 8 and then make way for Board of Education candidates who will speak from 8:15 to 9:15.

The event will follow a modified town hall format overseen by an out-of-town League of Women Voters moderator who will present questions submitted by the public to all candidates. Questions may be submitted at each event. They may also be emailed to wilton2017election@gmail.com. The window of opportunity for emailing questions extends from Oct. 9 to 15.

All questions will be screened by league members, one Democrat and one Republican, to rule out duplicates and ensure they are applicable to all candidates.

The format each evening allows all candidates equal time to introduce themselves, answer all questions posed by the moderator, and highlight their goals for serving the community.

Both events will be recorded for re-broadcast on Wilton’s Government Access Channel 79, the Wilton Library Association website, and goodmorningwilton.com.

Registration is suggested by visiting www.wiltonlibrary.org or calling 203-762-6334.

Pre-registrants should arrive by 6:50 p.m. to be guaranteed seating; wait-listed and walk-in registrants will be admitted after 6:50 p.m. if space is available.

No campaigning will be allowed at the event.
