Democratic committee seeks new members

The Wilton Democratic Town Committee will hold a caucus to select members on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 8, in Room B of town hall.

Any registered Democrat in Wilton is eligible to participate in the caucus and vote for candidates to serve on the DTC. Up to 30 Democrats may serve for the two-year term beginning in March 2014.

The committee meets monthly at town hall and hosts or participates in several events each year. Members commit varying amounts of time and their commitments are flexible.

The committee nominates and supports qualified individuals to serve on Wilton’s appointed and elected boards and commissions. It also raises awareness and visibility of local, state and national Democratic issues and candidates.

Activities throughout the year include:

• Annual events such as the spring breakfast and fall barbecue;

• Voter registration drives and welcoming new voters;

• Supporting Democratic candidates through phone calls, door knocking, and letters to the editor;

• Providing rides to the polls;

• Creating and disseminating information about community events.

Anyone interested in serving on the committee is asked to email Chairman Tom Dec at or call him at 203-858-5430.
