Deborah McFadden, Democrat, First Selectman
I am currently a member of the Wilton Board of Selectmen and a candidate for first selectman. It has been 10 years since Wilton has had a choice for first selectman. I am running because I believe I have the required experience, skills, judgment, and temperament to lead Wilton and to help enhance the quality of life for all residents.
As a troubleshooter and problem solver in the Community Affairs division of the mayor’s office of Salt Lake City for two administrations, working with virtually every municipal department, I acquired the essential knowledge and skills to resolve complex issues and achieve results in municipal government, including the budgeting process, administering essential services, streamlining bureaucratic processes, developing new programs, and enhancing citizen participation.
I bring this relevant experience to Wilton because I want to advance our standing as a premier community to live and work in. Controlling costs and seeking new efficiencies are a given, but we must also explore ways to grow our residential and commercial tax base, while respecting Wilton’s historic character. I will focus on:

  • Fiscal responsibility and economic development.

  • Quality of life, with emphasis on first-rate schools and support for our senior citizens.

  • Open and responsive government and community engagement.

My family has loved living in Wilton for the last 18 years. All of the McFadden children have attended Wilton schools and the last is now a junior. I hope you will vote for me. However, one way or the other, please come out to vote on Nov. 3
