BRIDGEPORT — A Wilton man has been charged with stalking a 15-year-old girl.

Craig Sears, 52, of River Road, Wilton, was charged with first-degree stalking and risk of injury to a child.

He was released on $750 bond.

During the arraignment hearing on Thursday, Superior Court Judge William Holden ordered Sears to have no further contact with the victim and to stay away from Bassick High School.

Police said a 15-year-old girl told them she had been followed on several occasions as she walked home from the high school by a man driving a black Mustang convertible.

The Bridgeport teen said the man had tried to get her attention, yelling out the car window, “excuse me,” and “yo,” but she had ignored him and run home and told her father, police said.

Police said they searched the area after the girl’s first complaint but had not located the car. In the last incident in December, police said the girl managed to get the license plate number of the car.

Police said they traced the plate to Sears.

In the meantime, police said a Washington Avenue woman told police that a man matching Sears description had pulled up next to her outside her home in a Jeep and yelled to her “how much?” He drove off when the woman began yelling at him, police said.

Police said when they later contacted Sears, he admitted driving into Bridgeport on a number of occasions but wouldn’t comment further.
