Police: Danbury man charged with DUI after ‘throwing things’ at vehicle on I-84
DANBURY — After allegedly throwing items at another vehicle on the highway last week, a Ball Pond Road resident was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license.
State police arrested 18-year-old John Victor Medeiros on northbound Route 7 shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, after a caller reported a car on Interstate 84 was “throwing things” at their vehicle.
After locating the suspected vehicle — a silver Audi A4 — near Exit 12, troopers determined Medeiros, the driver, was intoxicated and did not have a valid driver’s license, according to state police.
He was arrested, transported to Troop A barracks in Southbury, and charged with driving while intoxicated and illegal operation of a motor vehicle without a license.
Medeiros’ bond was set at $2,000, and he is scheduled for arraignment at state Superior Court in Danbury on Jan. 28.
Five months ago, Medeiros was arrested in Danbury and charged with numerous counts of third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespass, conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny, as well as one count of tampering with a motor vehicle, according to court records.
