Stamford man charged with operating a drug factory

STAMFORD — City narcotics officers say they found a man dealing pot out of the window of his apartment on Greenwich Avenue and when they searched the place they turned up 10 ounces of marijuana.

Capt. Richard Conklin said Narcotics and Organized Crime squad officers heard that Richard Desmond, 27, of Greenwich Avenue, was dealing pot out of his apartment, set up set up surveillance and watched him dealing bags of marijuana out of his window on Friday afternoon. Officers waited until they saw Desmond walk out of his apartment before they moved in.

After obtaining a search warrant, the officers went through his apartment and found the 10 ounces of marijuana, another 16 prepackaged bags of marijuana and a digital scale, Conklin said.

Desmond was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of more than four ounces of marijuana and sale of a controlled substance. He was held in lieu of a $15,000 court-appearance bond.
