BRIDGEPORT — The Bridgeport Police Training Academy Recruit Class #41 will host a Domestic Violence Awareness Gala on Oct. 21.

The gala will take place at the Boca Oyster Bar, 10 East Main St. in Bridgeport. The event begins at 6 p.m. and admission is $100. There will be a cash bar. Rebecca Rawlings, a professional mixed martial artists, will be the guest speaker.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

All proceeds from the gala will benefit the Center for Family Justice, which helps survivors and victims of domestic violence in many towns and cities in Fairfield County.

The center and Bridgeport police teamed up with some other local agencies earlier this month to remember the victims of fatal domestic violence instances in Connecticut last year, and honor the survivors.
