Ruth Murphy Flanagan, the mother of a Wilton resident who was an avid sports fan, died on Oct. 20. The wife of the late Joseph V. Flanagan, she was 88. Formerly of Washington, D.C., she had lived in DeWitt, N.Y, Milton, Mass., and Harwichport, Mass. She especially loved Syracuse University football, basketball and lacrosse and watching her children and grandchildren play sports, especially lacrosse, her family said. She is survived by her son Mark D. Flanagan and his wife, Laurie (Gamble), of Sudbury, Mass.; her daughter Susan A. Flanagan of Washington, D.C.; her son Stephen G. Flanagan and his wife, Karen (Dix), of Wilton; and her daughter Kathleen L. Flanagan and her husband, Larry L. Orr, of Chevy Chase, Md., as well as her seven grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Agatha's Church in Milton, Mass., at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Milton Cemetery. Family and friends are invited.
