Frances Margaret Charney, 78, died Aug. 16, 2016 in her home. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., she had lived in Lordship in Stratford, Conn, since 1992. She was the daughter of the late Frances A. Radvansky Charney and Joseph Frank Charney. She is survived by her brother, Robert J. Charney of St. Petersburg, Fla., and special friend, Ann Fariss. Cousins: Robert\/Merilou Mannino, John\/Emily Hajus, James\/Andrea Hodska, all of Stratford; Marianne Hajus\/Paul Moore, of Vero Beach, Fla.; and Barbara Hodska\/David Ipacs of Shelton. Charney worked at The Wilton Bank (now Bankwell) for 14 years, retiring as executive vice president. She was hired as vice president operations, to set up the new bank, along with the president, which included raising the capital, hiring the staff, and selecting the computer system. She was delighted to be able to use her diverse banking experience, with the bank opening April 27, 1987. She was also an instructor with the American Institute of Banking (AIB). Prior to joining The Wilton Bank, Charney was vice president of the Commerce Bank, Worcester, Mass., for eight years. She was also active with the National Association of Bank Women. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Murphy on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Road Lordship at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael\u2019s Cemetery, Stratford. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
