A Quaker memorial service for Woody Schempp, of Tanglewood Lane in Norwalk, will be held on Aug. 9, at 2 p.m., at the Wilton Friends Meetinghouse, 317 New Canaan Road (Rte. 106), in Wilton. Mr. Schempp, his first wife artist Gay Schempp and two daughters Maia and Rhoby, were long-time members of Wilton Friends Meeting. He was a loyal alumnus of Fairfield Prep and graduated from Georgetown University. As an architect, Mr. Schempp had been in construction work for many years, building homes that featured solar heating before it was popular. One, built on Chestnut Hill Road in 1980 with notched beams, used no nails. He also founded CaddWorks, offering computer integrated systems design for architects. Later, he joined Gail Palmer-Stone, his second wife, in her accounting firm. He died on May 21, 2014. For directions please visit wiltonfriends.org.
