Obituary: Suzanne P. Lebrija, 68

Susanne (Sue, Susie) P. Lebrija passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 11. She was 68.

Born on March 23, 1947 in New Brunswick, N.J. to John and Edith Pino, she was their oldest of 4 children. She spent her early childhood years in N.J., until her Dad moved his family to Mexico (Mexico City) in 1955, where they lived for 10 years, attending Colegio Merici, an Ursuline school. She would also meet the love of her life, Javier Lebrija, before moving back to the US for a brief period of time before marrying and settling in Mexico in 1966. Sue and Javier had 5 children, all boys, and devoted her entire life not only to her family, but also to helping those in need, especially the poor, the elderly and the sick, serving for many years at the “Dispensario de Ayuda Social”, a social services agency in her home town. She moved back to CT in 2002, where she continued her vocation as Senior Services Coordinator at the Department of Human Services in the Town of Westport and as Medical translator/interpreter at AmeriCares in Norwalk, also obtaining a major in Sociology from the College of New Rochelle, NY. She was also deeply devoted to her parish, the Church of the Assumption in Westport, CT.

Sue loved God and her family above all else and her life vocation was to help others.

Sue touched the lives of many people in very special ways and would want all those who knew her to be happy knowing that after a long and brave battle with cancer, she is now in a better place and to remember her from better times.

Sue was predeceased by her mother, Edith Norman Pino, in 1996, formerly of Westport and the Westport Board of Realtors, and by her brother John N. Pino in 2011. She is survived by her father, Dr. John A. Pino of Norwalk, and two brothers, Gene (Mary Pat) of Westport and Tom (Nadine) of Sugar Land, Texas; her husband (Javier Lebrija) and 5 sons and their families, Xavier Lebrija (wife Elsy, children Xavier, Emilio, Elsa María), of Mexico City; Juan Lebrija (wife Sasha, sons Diego, Alexander) of Westport; Carlos Lebrija (wife Katya, daughters Natalia, Mariana) of Wilton; Eugenio Lebrija (wife Sofía) of Mexico City; Patricio Lebrija (wife Natalia, sons Lucas, Nicolás, Mateo) of Austin, Texas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 19, at 10:00 AM in The Church of The Assumption, 98 Riverside Avenue, Westport. Interment in Willowbrook Cemetery will be private.
