Nancy Lammey Goodnow, age 54, passed away on Nov.18, 2016 after a brief illness.
Born in New Jersey on May 17, 1962, Nancy was the daughter of Hildegard and Joe Lammey, long-time residents of Calvin Road in Wilton. Nancy graduated from Wilton High School in 1980. She then earned her degree in Psychology from Norwalk Community College, completed Travel Training School, and embarked on a career in the travel industry that took her to many beautiful parts of the world.
After marriage, she settled in York, S.C., with her husband Stan and daughter Lindsay. Most recently, she lived in Bryson City, N.C., with her devoted partner Leonard Frady, with whom she enjoyed exploring the beautiful Smoky Mountains. A gifted poet, avid reader, history buff and a lover of the outdoors and her dogs and cats, she happily volunteered her time fostering animals. She described the birth of her only child, Lindsay, as the happiest day of her life.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Lindsay Goodnow of Rock Hill, S.C., her grandchildren Autumn, Declan, and Ayla, her brother Glenn Lammey and sister-in-law Kay Lammey of Simsbury, Conn.,, niece Katharine Lammey and nephews Will and Grant Lammey, as well as cousins Barbara and Bill Lammey and his wife Jill, who reside in New Jersey.
Burial and memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PAWS Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1814, Bryson City, NC 28713.
