Lewis J. Rose, 86

Lewis James Rose, husband of Marie Kroll Rose, of Fairfield, CT, passed away on April 28th at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, MA at the age of 86 from complications following surgery.

He was born in New York City to Elaine (Wolf) and Louis Rose and raised in Scarsdale, NY. He graduated the Loomis School in Windsor, CT, served in the Army of Occupation in Wiesbaden, Germany and graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.

Lew and Marie started their family in Lexington, MA and at the end of 1964, they resettled in Wilton, CT as career opportunities pulled him to the New York metropolitan area. Lew most enjoyed his role as a computer specialist for the City of New York. He was known for his high intelligence, dry wit, innate goodness and was passionate about etymology, languages, travel and spending time with his grandchildren.

Lew is survived by his wife Marie, three children and their spouses; James and Julie Rose, Thomas and Nancy Rose and Michele and Douglas McKean and four grandchildren, Timothy and Matthew Rose and Colette and Gavin McKean.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Benedictine Grange, 49 Dorethy Road, Redding, CT.
