Joyce Isabel Mary Cowham Carvutto, born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and raised in Wilton, Conn., passed away Jan. 19 , 2015 at the age of 92 surrounded by her family. Joyce was born on Christmas day, December 1922, to the late Richard and Bertha Cowham.
Joyce retired from the Wilton school system in 1984. She was a life member of Zion’s Hill United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir. Joyce also spent countless hours at the Cannon Grange helping with fund-raisers and enjoying the social camaraderie.
Mrs. Carvutto is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Leonard Carvutto. She is survived by her sons, Gordon J. Carvutto (Leslie) of Williamsburg, Va., and Thomas W. Carvutto (Cindy) of Poway, Calif. She is also survived by her grandchildren Matthew, Anthony and Amy Carvutto of California, and her siblings Thomas Cowham, Genevieve Saunders, Patricia (Robert) Vadas and Julia Monroe. In addition, Joyce is survived by her step-grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy and Nathan, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. Bouton Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion’s Hill United Methodist Church in Wilton, Conn., or the local SPCA in your area, as Joyce was an avid animal lover.
