Gerald L. Palmer, 90

Gerald L. Palmer, Jr., age 90 of Wilton, died suddenly on Saturday, October 25, 2014.

Born in Chicago, the son of the late Gerald L. Sr. and Marie (Cohen) Palmer, he was the beloved husband of Ann (Hald) Palmer for 57 years. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and a Navy veteran of Korea, he retired as Lieutenant Commander from the U.S. Naval Reserves.

After his Navy career, Gerald worked for Perkin Elmer in Wilton and eventually spent over 20 years as advertising manager at the Pall Corporation in Glen Cove, NY, until his retirement. He made Wilton his home on Cherry Lane for over 50 years. He was an avid sailor and a member of the Norwalk Yacht Club since 1975.

In addition to his wife Ann, Gerald is survived by their children and grandchildren; Bruce Palmer and his wife Suh-Jane Lee, Martha Palmer, Julia Palmer, Brian Palmer and his wife Sarah Kay Bronson and their children Simon and Adam, and Richard Palmer and his children Isabelle and Emily.

An animal lover, he was preceded in death by Murphy, his faithful companion for most of his retirement and one of a long line of English Setters and cats who shared his home over the decades.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 am on November 15, at  Our Lady of Fatima, 229 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT, with reception to follow at the church. Future burial at St. John Cemetery, Queens, NY, will be held privately.
