Francis Munisteri, 85

Francis Xavier Munisteri, 85, former resident of Wilton, CT. died on November 30th, 2013 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where has lived for the past 19 years with his wife Cedelia Munisteri.

Francis was born on Feb. 3, 1928 in Rockville Center, son of Nicholas and Mary Munisteri. He attended Rockville Center High School where he was quarterback on the football team. He went on to study engineering at Cornell University. After graduation, he was married to Eileen Donlin of Astoria, Queens, N.Y. He began his career at P&D Auto Manufacturing Co. in Astoria, Queens, as operations manager. He and Eileen raised 4 children who grew up in Wilton, CT.

In 1972 he relocated the family to Brussels, Belgium where he worked at ITT Europe as an industrial engineering executive.

Following his retirement and return to the U.S. in 1985, he remarried and moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he resided until his death.

A lifelong skier and boater, he loved the ocean, fishing and travel. Since his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and of course his dogs, all of whom he loved dearly. He was a fiercely determined man who continually strived to better the lives of his family members by providing many opportunities to grow and travel. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife Cedelia Munisteri, his first wife, Eileen Munisteri, daughter Marcy Gibson, grandson Kevin Gibson, and great-grandson Kaelum Gibson; son Michael Munisteri, granddaughter Kaitlin Munisteri, daughter Cathleen Munisteri, and daughter Lisa Cavalea and her husband Frank Cavalea, of Brookfield, CT, formerly of Ridgefield, CT; grandchildren Nicholas Cavalea, Alexandra Cavalea and Kyle Cavalea.

A Mass will be held at St. Matthew Parish, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, CT on Saturday the 7th of December at 10 am. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in May at the Norwalk Yacht Club. Please contact one of the family members for details.
