Dorothy LePage, 95

Dorothy Irene Wuest Le Page, of Wilton, CT passed away peacefully on June 1, 2014 at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Dorothy was born on September 23, 1918 and raised in Nutley, New Jersey. She was a talented athlete who played basketball and volleyball at Montclair State Teachers’ College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1940. Dorothy met her future husband Roch in 1938 while spending her junior year abroad at the University of Dijon, France.

During WW II, Dorothy worked at Western Electric as a junior engineer. On Dec. 29th, 1943 Dorothy married Jean Roch Le Page, Jr. and they settled in New Jersey. In 1960, they moved their family to Connecticut. While raising her family, Dorothy worked as an assistant to Alvin Toffler when he was writing Future Shock. Dorothy taught foreign language for twenty-five years in the Wilton school system, earning her Master’s Degree in 1979.

Dorothy loved traveling, reading, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles and baseball.  She and Roch were members of the Wilton Playshop for many years. They were also avid Mets fans and during their retirement, traveled to different stadiums across the country to watch them play. Most of all Dorothy loved to vacation with her family at Long Beach Island, NJ and did so almost every summer for more than 50 years.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Roch, her son David (Shannon) and her grandson, Charles Michael Le Page, Jr. Dorothy is survived by her five children: John (Eileen) of Woodbury, CT; Patricia Peterson (Ray) of Stamford, CT; Charles (Kathy) of New Milford, CT; Margaret Haskell (R.D.) of Medfield, MA; Dorothy Fitton (Dave) of Westport, CT; and 16 grandchildren: John, Evva, Sarah, Kathleen, Cristine, Megan, Emily, Suzanne, David, Jennifer, Melissa, Andrew, Valerie, Ryan, Sean and Mary and 14 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours: Wednesday, June 4, from 7 to 9 PM at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church St., Georgetown, CT. Burial mass will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton.
