Daniel E. Lupton, 84, of Wilton, formerly a long-time resident of Darien, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Norwalk Hospital. He was born on January 19, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to Daniel and Julia (Casselman) Lupton.
Dan grew up in Chicago, IL, where he attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary. He then attended St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, IL, where he received a B.A. in Philosophy (1952), a Baccalaureate (1954), a Masters (1955) and a Licentiate (1961) in Theology. In 1956 he was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest and served in several parishes in the Chicago area. During this time, he wrote, Guide to Reading the Bible, which was published in both the U.S. and England. Dan was selected, as one of the top young intellectuals in the country, to be part of the Pittsburgh Oratory Community.
