Adrian A. (Dick) Winstel Jr., formerly of Wilton, Conn., died Feb. 18, 2015. He was 80 years old and the cause was cancer.
He was born Oct. 11, 1934 in Salem N.J. and was a member of the Salem High School class of 1952. It was there he met his future wife, Kay Chambers, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1955.
Following graduation he entered the glass container business, working his way up to sales account management and then sales manager. He worked in San Antonio, Dallas, Orlando, Fla., and Grand Rapids, Mich. In 1979 he joined Anchor Hocking in Monaca, Pa., where he was vice president of operations at a specialty glass plant. Later, he joined the Ball Corporation in Greenwich, Conn., managing accounts in the East Coast/New York City area, and moved his family to Wilton. In the late 80s he went to Plano, Texas, as vice president of the southwest regional office where he solidified major accounts such as Pace Foods. He retired several years ago but maintained consulting relationships.
During his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed a house in Wyoming and beach houses in Ocean City, N.J., spending time with grandchildren and family. He was known for his love of sports, summers on the Jersey shore, tailgating at major events, good times with family and friends and his generosity.
He is survived by sons Thomas of Fairfield, Conn., Ronald of Jacksonville, Fla., and Richard of Plano; granddaughter Lauren Winstel and grandson Austin Winstel. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Kay Winstel, granddaughter Kaitlyn Winstel, and brother Donald Winstel.
Services will be held at a later date in South Jersey.
